Imagine, for a moment, how your life could be much worse than it supposedly is now. What things in your life would you miss the most if they were suddenly taken away by a cruel twist of fate? Your health? Your job? Your family? By taking the time to notice the good things in your life, you’ll discover that you already are quite blessed. You already have good luck! Fostering an attitude of gratitude will keep you feeling upbeat and optimistic—two essential ingredients for drawing more good things into your life.
The reason why luck does not seem to favor you is because of your constant preoccupation with “negative” thinking which is the direct result of limiting thoughts in your subconscious mind. The sad part is that a vicious cycle gets formed – the negative thinking causes events that are not conducive and these events further aggravate the sense of negativity.
Or change your state through experiences. Little daily things are big. When I was going through my rebirth — changing my state, I found joy in little things like a good workout, motorcycle rides, meaningful conversations, enjoying different foods, and hanging out with my tribe. These are all things I had in front of me. I didn’t have book deals or my own company. I punched a clock. I was in a job I didn’t like (but later realized it was one of the most important chapters of my life and would position me for bigger things.) The process of finding joy in your life is what creates you to connect to yourself. This is the gold. This connection to self is what makes you a super magnet to attract.
How can a ladybug make you luckier? Some cultures say that if a ladybug lands on you and you don't brush it off, your luck will improve. Others say that if a man and a woman see a ladybug at the same time, they'll fall in love. in Belgium, a ladybug crawling across a maiden's hand was a sign that she would be married soon. A large number of ladybugs in the spring was an indication to farmers that there would be a good harvest.
The New Thought movement (Law of Attraction Origins) grew out of the teachings of Phineas Quimby in the early 19th century. Early in his life, Quimby was diagnosed with tuberculosis. Unfortunately, medicinal treatment wasn't working, so he began carriage riding through his hometown, Lebanon, New Hampshire. He then regained his health and recovered, an event that prompted his study of "mind over body". Although he never used the words 'Law of Attraction', he explained this in a statement that captured the concept in the field of health:
Draw a route: When you’re traveling down the road of life in search of good luck, it’s important to know the exact direction in which to travel to pursue your destiny. Seneca once said, “If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable.” Mark off a route or a path and follow it, and it will be easier to bring your dreams to fruition.
Positive thoughts lead to positive attitudes and positive behaviors. Positive people have more friends, better relationships, better jobs, get more promotions, are healthier and have improved immune systems. This is positive psychology, not a metaphysical phenomenon. It forms the basis of a Principle of Attraction in which Like tends to and often attracts Like...but not always.
Show up and always be prepared. Have you ever noticed that the luckiest people at work seem to be the ones who show up prepared for meetings? They plan projects and develop timelines. They work well with other people and they always seem to have loads of energy. They are optimistic and confident because they are prepared. If you want to be one of the lucky ones at work who gets a promotion or a regular pay increase, do your homework. It’s no accident that the more prepared you are to tackle a challenge, the luckier you’ll be at successfully reaching your goals.
Unfortunately, this author has an extremely superficial understanding of the LOA. While he may claim to have read all of the books, he clearly didn't understand them. He really isn't to blame as unfortunately many of the books written on the LOA are written by people that do not fully understand it themselves. The statement that positive thoughts always bring positive things is a faulty premise that is not at the basis of the LOA.
Trust the Universe. Imagine an alternate dimension that is almost exactly like the real world but whatever you truly desire comes true in an instant. See yourself in that dimension, where whatever you ask the Universe for comes to you in an instant. Don't look for what you asked for; this is where people tend to mess up. If you have to keep an eye out for an event that manifests your wish, it's only telling the Universe you don't have it, and you will attract not having it.
I decided that that goal was to make $100,000 that year. I created an image of a $100,000 dollar bill and hung it on the ceiling above my bed. Every morning I’d see the image. I’d visualize what it would be like to have $100,000. Everything I did was to achieve that goal. At the end of the year, I had made $97,000. This would never have been possible without the Law of Attraction, these visualization techniques, and meditation.
Ask the Universe for it. Make your request. Send a picture of what you want to the Universe. The Universe will answer. See this thing as already yours. See How to Visualize. The more detailed your vision, the better. If you're wanting that Nintendo Wii, see yourself sitting down playing a game on it. See yourself feeling the controller, playing your favorite game(s), touching the console. If there's that person you have a crush on, see yourself walking with them, touching or caressing the person, or even kissing the person. You get the idea.
Everyone wants to be lucky. We all want things to go our way and for life to deliver great opportunities, an inflow of money and people whom we get along with. Some seem to have all that. It looks so easy for them while the rest of us struggle along, doing our best and hoping for a lucky break. Thankfully, there are ways you can give the universe a nudge to help you attract good luck.
At this point, you may still remain unconvinced that this universal principle — which attracts like to like — still seems interwoven in magic and, therefore, unreal. Perhaps it’s because we’re talking about intangible concepts like thoughts and feelings. At least with gravity, an apple thrown up into the air falls onto the ground. You may not understand it, but you can visibly and immediately experience the effects.
Even though attracting good luck into our lives is something that we cannot physically control, it is, however, something that we can indirectly influence and bring forth into our lives by cultivating certain traits that will help us develop a luck-attracting mindset — enabling us to attract the opportunities into our lives that are given to us by lady luck. 😉
In all areas of your life, career, relationships, health. You don’t have to have a crystal clear picture. But without a vision, it’s difficult to create anything. You’ll just be throwing paint at the wall instead of creating a work of art. See this visual often but don’t tie it to your happiness. It’s there. It’s waiting. But it’s doesn’t determine your happiness today.
The author demonstrates how good luck is a matter of personality. Factors like a healthy self-image and certain other attributes can change a negative and failure-prone personality to a positive one that admits no defeat and recognizes that good luck is not an accident. In reality, "good luck" means the attraction of favorable chances by a positive mind-set within. Personality factors that attract luck include a high energy level, generosity and a firmly held belief that one is lucky. Also, the will to attract luck, in the author's own words: "The extent to which we make ourselves luckier is likely to be directly proportional to the force of our will to be lucky. The will to be lucky is the crux of our internal development, the channel through which we can realize our full potentialities as lucky human beings." This is a pleasant read with valuable practical advice that will benefit the reader if applied to her/his life.
If you are constantly worried about bad things happening, or negative outcomes, then you are using the law of attraction against yourself. To worry is really to apply most of the above steps, towards a negative outcome. You are visualizing the negative outcome and asking the universe for it with pictures of the negative outcome; you are feeling the feelings of the negative outcome. Stop worrying and follow step seven above.
Change your strategy: It may occasionally be necessary to change the way we see things and the way we act in order to “get lucky.” Surely you know many people who, no matter how hard they try, cannot seem to change their destiny. It’s not about good or bad luck, but about knowing how to behave properly and knowing the exact moment in which to change course or direction. Instead of accumulating failures, innovate.
One woman reported having 8 car accidents in one 150 mile journey. She was also unlucky in love. After joining a dating agency, her first date fell off his motorcycle and broke his leg. The second date walked into a glass door and broke his nose. Eventually she met her future husband and the church they were going to get married in burned down the day before the wedding.
People who have the luck factor clearly understand that preparation is the key to long-term acceleration. By preparing thoroughly they are able to better identify possible patterns, trends, and events that may take place as a result of their decisions and actions. This naturally enables them to work faster and smarter as they move towards the attainment of their goals and objectives.
Which brought me to this basic statement of the fundamental Abraham teaching. And what a fine, excellent book it is. It explains so many things, why things are the way they are, why we keep trying to change things, but keep winding up with the same disappointing, unwanted results, and how to change the way we tell the Universe what it is we truly want.
When things get tough you’ve got two choices: you can either fold or you can keep going. Lucky people are very resilient. I remember talking to one lucky person that had fallen down some stairs and broken his leg. I said, “I bet you don’t consider yourself quite so lucky now.” He said the last time he went to a hospital he met a nurse and they fell in love. Now the two of them are happily married twenty-five years later. He said, “It was the best thing that ever happened to me… So, yeah, things can look bad now, but the long term effect of this might be very, very positive.” That’s a very resilient attitude. Lucky people tend to have that sort of approach.
We are what we attract, or so it says in this book. I initially purchased this book for my husband and it does offer some interesting reading material, just not really what I thought it would be after reading so many glowing reviews about the book. Clearly, one does have to be open-minded when reading this book, but also take it all with a grain of salt. It more reminds me of "The Secret" and all of it's hype when it was so popular. According to my understanding of the basic concepts of the book is that everything that happens or lack there of begins in our own minds. Yes, true, that "as so a man think, he becomes". The value of this book is in promoting the idea that you have more control over your life than you think. The mind is capable of a lot, including how your body lives, how you present yourself to other people, etc. When you have a positive train of thought, you will have better health, better prosperity and better life in general. That simply is true and cannot be denied. I think this book is a good stepping stone on where to begin, but is seems reminiscent of Napoleon Hill's, "Think and Grow Rich," or James Allen's, "As a Man Thinketh,". What the book doesn't tell you is that when negative things happen to you, your positive attitude can turn those things into far less tragic events. There are other books that will make this more clear.
Creative visualization is a cornerstone of using the Law of Attraction, and meditative exercises are part of this process. For example, you are encouraged to spend 10-15 minutes a day on building an increasingly detailed image of the life you want to develop. However, visualization actually extends far beyond these mental pictures, and can be practiced in concrete ways every day. For example, you will learn writing exercises here on our site and artistic approaches that focus on externalizing your goals and making them more real. You can be as creative in your visualization process as you like, and trying out the basic skills may inspire you to come up with unique methods that are even more effective.
I AGREE with you when you invite people not to be fooled but, not to be fooled by just believing the first guy who introduces himself as an expert when it is obviously just leading you to pay 299 for a magical LOA course so to go deeper in the study of it before dismissing totally a life changing knowledge. Yours are valuable tools to but there is no need to be general and discriminate 100% something that you have not fully experience yourself.
There is no real risk to chasing your dreams. As far as I can tell, it’s a lot of fun and a thrilling journey. My experience with countless clients over many, many years, is that all the risk…all the frustration…and all the disappointment, is born from not chasing dreams. (But please remember, there is a way to chase dreams successfully which is like chasing butterflies. Put yourself in the right energy field, and become a magnet for those butterflies. The more direct method of butterfly catching is so much harder).
Don’t wait for science to catch up several hundred years from now. Use the power of love, attraction and transformation NOW. Just because you can’t see angels and wise mentors in front of you right now, doesn’t mean you can’t imagine them as true and reap the benefits. You have the same opportunity as anyone else to make this quantum imagination jump.
Further, visual affirmations are useful ways of reminding yourself to stay connected to positive thoughts throughout the day. A sticky note on the bathroom cabinet, the fridge or the front door can keep you in check if your confidence is wavering, and a “dream board” can be designed to represent your desires and aims in pictorial form. We’ll explain a wide range of ways in which you can use affirmations and teach you how to design them to accurately reflect your underlying goals.
In his 1910 The Science of Getting Rich Wallace D. Wattles espoused similar principles — that simply believing in the object of your desire and focusing on it will lead to that object or goal being realized on the material plane (Wattles claims in the Preface and later chapters of this book that his premise stems from the monistic Hindu view that God provides everything and can deliver what we focus on). The book also claims negative thinking will manifest negative results.
